For some thirty years Chad Valley (‘First English maker of Mah-Jongg’) has used almost the same, distinct kind of boxes, tiles, wind disks and instruction booklets over and over again.
The early sets have big or small counters of colored bone. Their value is not the standard 2000 but 1000 points p.p.
Each set has its own, well written instruction manual. Dice and wind disks have no containers. Apart from just one set, there are no spare tiles. Most wooden pseudo Chinese cases and more expensive cardboard boxes feature two distinctive characters. On the other cardboard boxes Chad Valley’s distinctive label is pasted.
