Black 5-drawer box with illustration of ‘ancient’ Mah Jongg players.

Box (237x148x95mm) is American. Made of heavy cardboard pasted with paper printed with a golden image. The inside is covered with white paper and holds 4 trays for the tiles and one for the counters, dice and wind indicators.

Tiles (23x32x11mm) are made of plain wood. Covered on top with a layer of ivory colored paint imprinted with rather free interpretations of monochrome characters and images. There are no spare tiles.

Counters are square sticks of rough wood.

Dice (2x) are made of bone with Western points.

Wind discs are copper disc with embossed initials. Their holder is a wooden, bone colored, Western version of a Ming box.

Instruction manual is a red booklet with the Babcock Rules, 13th printing, January 1924.
