The sliding lids of the boxes in this section hide bone-and-bamboo tiles. Their origin is mainly Chinese. Most date from the twenties. Some, the flat versions, from post 1945.
They often come complete with counters, dice and wind disks. Like those made for The Mah-Jongg Sales Company of America and its European branch The Continental Mah-Jongg Sales Company.
The later boxes hold only tiles. Often the flower tiles have an elaborate design with golden touches. Indicating that these sets were mainly meant for tourists.
